Nursery

Children are a gift from the Lord; babies are a reward. Psalm 127:3

MISSION STATEMENT
The Mission of all child care programs of Trinity Presbyterian Church is to be a ministry church to its members and the community at large. The programs will provide biblically based teaching and age appropriate activities that encourage spiritual, social, physical, emotional and cognitive development.

WELCOME TO TRINITY
Trinity Presbyterian Church strives to provide a bright, cheerful, safe, and loving environment for your child’s early experience with friendships. The foundation we seek to lay during your child’s early years is built on Christ and involves caring, sharing, patience, cooperation, and learning about God. A nursery is provided for all worship services and many of our special events. We are glad you and your children are here.

OUR NURSERY STAFF
There are two hired, regular nursery workers who staff the infant and PreSchool nurseries. The hired staff is augmented by a regular rotation of church members each Sunday. By recognizing a familiar face from week to week, we hope that your child will develop trust and feel comfortable and confident in class.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE

  1. Please label all of your child’s belongings and complete a diaper bag tag (if you do not already have one) and attach it to your child’s diaper bag. Your child’s bag will be placed on the shelf.
  2. You and your child will be given a tag that must match when your child is picked up from the nursery.
  3. Indicate any limitations or food allergies your child may have.
  4. Drop your child off quickly! “Lingering” parents tend to lessen the child’s confidence. If your child is unhappy and does not settle down, we will send for you. When you feel the need to check on your child, be discreet. It is very disruptive to have parents coming in and out of the nurseries. We want everyone to be happy and secure.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
For your child’s enjoyment, age appropriate toys are provided in each nursery. These toys are disinfected after each use and the floors are vacuumed, mopped with disinfectant. The changing tables are also sanitized. A small refrigerator and microwave oven are located in the nursery foyer for use by our nursery workers and parents. We strive for a clean, healthy environment.

Parents are requested not to bring children who have had fever, diarrhea, or runny noses in the last 24 hours. This is out of consideration for your child and the other children as well.

Please bring for your child, juice in bottles or sippy cups (and pacifier if your child uses one) labeled with your child’s name. Cheerios are provided for snacks. If your child can not have cheerios, please bring a snack from home. Please feed your child breakfast before he comes to church. We are not set up to handle meals and we do not want the other children coveting your child’s food!

WHICH NURSERY IS APPROPRIATE FOR MY CHILD?

The Infant/Crawler nursery (Room 100B) is set up for babies from birth to about 12 months old. This nursery contains age appropriate toys for them to manipulate. There is also an adjoining room equipped with pack-n-plays for napping babies. Mothers are welcome to nurse their child in here.

The Toddler nursery (Room 100A) is for children approximately 12 to 24 months old. We use a basic Bible curriculum to introduce the children to prayer, finger plays, and Bible verses. This nursery will prepare your child for the more structured program of the two-year-olds. We have found that children this age are ready for more structure and increased intellectual activity.

CRY ROOM FOR NURSING MOTHERS (ROOM 101) Comfortable seating is provided for nursing mothers as well as in the Cry Room (101). The worship service can be seen and heard in this room.

For those who prefer to keep infants with them in the Worship Service or Sunday School, changing tables and cribs are available for your use in room 101. Room 101 is located on the left side of the sanctuary and the worship service and/or Sunday School class may be heard and viewed from this room.

With the parents, the nursery staff will individually evaluate and recommend each child’s move to the next nursery. Many first time parents are reluctant to graduate their child to the older class, but we have found that children this age do very well when promoted. They are usually quite eager for a change of scenery and new experiences.

Children in the Toddler nursery will generally be moved as a group into a Preschool class in June when the other classes are promoted.
