May the Mind of Christ, My Savior

Kate B. Wilkinson and A. Cyril Barham-Gould (1925); Refrain and arrangement: Anthony D. Moore (2007)

When Jeff finished preaching through the Gospel of Mark (2003) and was last preaching through Matthew (2005), I noticed that this hymn was always a strong option as a response to the sermon. Expecting the same dynamic as we return to Matthew, I have written a refrain (we’ve just learned it) which can be used as an addition to the hymn or as a simple prayer on its own. Of course, the hymn itself can also be used in its original form as well.

As Jeff leads us back into the gospel of Matthew, let us be continually amazed by how Jesus lived, how he loved people, and how He honored our Father above all things during His physical time on earth. I pray that we will all continue to grow in faith, hope and love.

    Music

May the mind of Christ, my Savior,
Live in me from day to day,
By His love and power controlling
All I do and say.

May the Word of God dwell richly
In my heart from hour to hour,
So that all may see I triumph
Only through His pow’r.

REFRAIN: May I be like You, Lord Jesus;
Make me more like You each day.
Help my head, my heart and my hands to reflect
Your mercy, truth and grace.
May the mind of Christ, my Savior,
Live in me from day to day,
By His love and power controlling
All I do and say.

May the peace of God my Father
Rule my life in everything,
That I may be calm to comfort
Sick and sorrowing.

May the love of Jesus fill me
As the waters fill the sea;
Him exalting, self abasing,
This is victory.
